Where the doors fold open
You’ll need to look first at how you want the doors to open. A traditional bifold door will fold with another into the closet opening. Mount to the floor?
There is some hardware that may require you to directly mount a pivot to the floor. For those with custom flooring, this might not be practical, so pick hardware that is heavy duty and doesn’t need the floor to be touched.

Many bi fold doors for closets are oversized, and require heavier limit hardware. Use hardware that will have a pivot mounted to the floor to help stabilize them.
